For my class at Biblical Seminary, I had to write my own Psalm of Lament. [Please don't comment saying something like "thou shalt not add or take away from Scripture"]. The purpose was to understand the structure of a Psalm of Lament by writing one.
Pseudo-Davidic Psalm
Of Evan Curry
Rescue me, O God, by your strength,
and present me as righteous, O God, by your justice.
Turn your face towards me and listen, my Lord,
Do not turn a deaf ear to what I bid of you.
For you I have worked with great angst,
For you I have offered my every part of me,
But you, O God, have not returned such a favor.
The Lord has done mighty deeds for saints of old,
Surely, he is still strong enough to rescue even me.
May those who ignore you be humbled,
Put an end to the success of the wicked.
But for you alone will I continue to carry this cross,
I will praise you for your might deeds.
For the Lord has been faithful to deliver his people,
and he will also rescue me out of despair.
As many of us have seen the bloodshed from the terrorist attacks in India, let us pray that the Indian government makes wise, well-thought-out decisions. During the first week of Advent, we pray for hope that is only found in Jesus Christ. The following weeks we pray for (2) love, (3) joy, and (4) peace. As we think about Christ’s coming as a small, peaceful, innocent child, think about his life, and wait patiently for his second appearing, let us pray that such things as hope, love, joy, and peace (not bitterness, anger, hatred, and resentment) will be at the forefront of our minds, and the minds of the leaders in India.
[Jim Wallis stirred this thought in me to pray for India.]
I was contacted by the creator of this video, Randy Brandt, and he let me know that this was not an attack on the Emergent movement, but it was meant for humor. Please read the comments for this post to see what Randy said.
God bless, Randy. I pray that there will be more “Randy’s” on both sides of the spectrum.

It seems that most are viewing this video as an attack on the Emergent church. However, it was really funny so it may simply be a well-intentioned satire (but I doubt it).
But, if it is an attack, my question is, “Have we gone too far?” I know we all won’t agree, but isn’t equating the Emergent/emerging movement with Hitler too much? Even poking fun at one of the most tragic events in human history is upsetting in and of itself, don’t you think?
I would like to caution us to be (uhh…) cautious in our criticism and be loving in the avenues we choose to use when doing so. If this video is an attack, then I find neither cautious nor loving.
